THE MASTER'S PRAYER

Matthew 6:9-13

With transliteration and concrete translation

Hebrew reads from right to left

לָכֵן כֹּה תִתְפַּלָּלוּ אָבִינוּ שֶבַּשָּמַיִם יתְקַדַּש שְמֶךָ׃

Lakein koh titpalalu: avinu shebashamayim yitqadash shemeka

6:9 "To establish, thus you will pray (judge yourself to mediate for others):

Our Father, Who is in the heavens, Your name (identity/character) is prepared for tasks;

תָּבֹא מַלְכוּתֶךָ יֵעָשֶה רְצוֹנְךָ כְּמוֹ בַשָּמַים כּן בָּאָרֶץ׃

Tavo malkuteka yei’aseh retsonka kemo bashamayim kein ba’arets

6:10 Your kingdom will come, Your desire will be done;

Like it is in the heavens, establish in the earth.

אֶת־לֶחֶם חֻקֵּנוּ תֶּן־לָנוּ הַיּוֹם׃

Et lechem chuqqeinu ten-lanu hayyom

6:11 All relating to our fixed portion of fight, (warring for national existence), give to us today;

וּסְלַח־לָנוּ אֶת־חֹבוֹתֵנוּ כַּאֲשֶר סָלַחְנוּ גַּם־אֲנַחְנוּ לְחַיָּבֵנוּ׃

Uslach-lanu et chovoteinu ka’asher salachnu gam-anachnu lechayyaveinu

6:12 And forgive to us all relating to our owing You, like which we have forgiven, also us, to ones owing us.

וְאַל־תְּבִיאֵנוּ לִידֵי נִסָּיוֹן כִּי אִם־חַלְּצֵנוּ מִן־הָרָע

We’al-tevi’einu lidei nissayon ki im-challetseinu min-hara’

6:13 And You will not lead us to a hand of prolonged intensive testing,

Except to deliver us from the breaker (satan);

כִּי לְךָ הַמַּמְלָכָה וְהַגְּבוּרָה וְהַתִּפְאֶרֶת לְעוֹלְמֵי עוֹלָמִים אָמֵן׃

Kiy leka hammamlaka wehaggevurah wehattipheret le’olmei ‘olamim amein

Because to You is the kingdom, and the overpowering strength, and the distinguishing adornment, to hidden eternities;

Amein (to rely and depend upon).
