DISCIPLE / LIMUD

Character traits of a Disciple

Limud
(taught one/teacher)

The Hebrew word for a disciple is limud, a passive participle from its root lamad meaning "learning; teaching; habituating; goading; directing".
A yoked ox is directed with a pointed staff by goading.

We are invited to be yoked to Yeshua (Mat. 11:27-30) and learn from Him as He was enabled by the Spirit of Yahweh to fulfill His purpose.

A Limud should be manifesting these character traits (Isa. 50:4; 54:13):

ירא

Yira - Fear: Call To constant attention
(giving yourself wholly to the scriptures)

חכם

Chakam - Wisdom: Accumulate and Absorb Knowledge
(from the scriptures of YHWH)

חנן

Chanan - Grace: Bestow traits; equip with intellectual abilities
(being enabled by the Spirit of YHWH through Yeshua)

חסד

Chesed - Mercy: Devote oneself entirely to meeting needs
(manifestation of love)

צדק

Tsadiq - Righteousness: Satisfy objective justice
(righting wrongs and correcting)

שפת

Shaphat - Judge: Set in order; create harmony; championing rights
(confirming His reign)

דין

Diyn ־ Judgment: Sentence; apply final judgment
(responsibility exclusive to Yahweh upon our submission
to manifesting the 6 characteristics of a Limud)
