HA SHEIM

(the name)

IS

                           יהוה

YAHWEH

                                                          His personal name

                                                                                    Exo. (Names) 3:15

     ה             ו            ה            י

Yod    Hey    Waw    Hey: YHWH, 4 letters called the tetra-grammaton

It is the personal name of the Creator meaning Existence, or He will exist

The origin is from two verbs:

  הָוָה                            הָיָה

Hayah (He existed) and Hawah (He existed from breath)

The pronunciation comes from:

 יהְיֶה         הוֶה             הָיָה

Hayah (He was), Howeh (He is), Yiyeh (He will be)

The last syllable of the first two words gives the correct pronunciation of the name Yahweh.

אֲדונָי

Adonai was the surrogate name used for the tetra-grammaton when Israel went into exile in Babylon, circa 606 B.C. The priests wanted the name to be ineffable to their captors. The post exilic Hebrews perpetuated the name as too sacred to be spoken.

אדוני

יהוה

The Hebraic configuration of the four letters with the consonants of adonai above it, was the reminder to Rabbis to say Adonai (my Master) instead of pronouncing the name when reading the scriptures in the synagogue on the Shabbath. The Dead Sea Scrolls (extant from 200 B.C.) confirmed this information in 1947 A.D. when manuscripts were found in the Qumran caves.

After the 6th century A.D., the Masoretes introduced a vowel point system called diacritical marks (to protect future generations from losing correct pronunciation of the language). Still believing the tetra-grammaton ineffable, when transcribing the name, they substituted the vowel points for the consonants of adonai onto the four letters, producing an impossible form יְהוָה. This device of substitution is called Kethibh (what is written) and Qere (what is to be read).

In circa 1520 A.D. an Italian, theologian/franciscan friar (catholic priest), named Petrus Galatinus, in his monumental work of Christian mysticism, “De Arcanis Catholicae Veritatis”, created the artificial form of Jehovah (J being a stylized I). Introducing a name that goes against grammatical and historical propriety.  This corruption was contested by J. Drusias, L. Cappella, and Lemercia, scholars of the time. It first appeared in English scriptures in 1530, when William Tyndale published a translation of the Chumash (Torah).

English is a very late language, actually it is a culmination of about 7 different ones. The point is our Creator and our Redeemer had names before the Greek, Latin, and English changed and replaced them.

We know from the scriptures that words are powerful and that proper nouns (names) transcend language barriers. In other words, your name will be the same in Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and in Africa.

In Hebrew all word roots are verbs (action), even nouns come from verb roots declaring the purpose for its appellation. So, the meaning of the name is important for the reason it was given. To change the name for euphonious purposes or any other reason is to change its meaning and show contempt and disregard to its bearer! A child is named by their parents, yes? Now I ask you, does that child have the authority to change the names of their parents? ... I rest my case.

"God", "Lord", "Jehovah", and "Jesus" (having been designated to our Creator and redeemer) are replacement and anachronistic names. (anachronism - Greek: ana meaning up, and chronos meaning time; upping time - a chronological misplacing of persons, events, objects, or customs in regard to each other).

In Names (Exo.) 23:13 "And in all which I have said unto you, you will guard, and a name of other powers (gods) you will not cause to make mention of; it will not be heard upon your lips." Also Josh. 23:7; Ps. 16:4; Jere. 23:27; and Hos. 2:17, reiterate the same.

  • God - Teutonic (ancient Indo-Germanic) origin of "ghodh" meaning union also sexual union or mating

  • Lord - Hebrew "ba'al": lording; take possession; marry; "ba'al-zevuv" meaning lord of the fly i.e. satan 1 Ki. 1:2. The British parliament is called "House of Lords"; Britain took possession of nations and colonized them without consent

  • Jehovah - read above

  • Jesus - Greek "Iesous" masculine form of the feminine "Ieso" in the Ionic dialect. She was the goddess of healing. Asclepius was her father and Apollo her grandfather, the great sun deity

ישוע

Spelling with diacritical marks:

YOD - SHEWA - SHIN - SUREQ - FURTIVE PATAH - 'AYIN

Pronounced

YESHUA

In John 5:43 Yeshua said "I have come in my Father's name, ..." The Father's name is not in the word Jesus.

Yehoshua or Yeshua means Yahweh grants essence of existence; vigorous existence/salvation.

Jere. 10:25 "Pour out Your wrath upon the nations where they do not acknowledge You, and upon families who, by Your name, they do not call out; ..."

Zeph. 3:9 "Because then I will change unto the peoples a purified lip, for all of them to call by name Yahweh, to serve Him as one shoulder." (united under one Head)
