Babylon is actually the Greek pronunciation of the Hebrew word bavel. A term applied because of an occurrence in a level valley of the land of it's ancient name Shinar, the results of which still remain today. It was the time when the whole earth was of one lip and unified words i.e. speaking the same language. Man had decided not to go into all the earth to "fill and subdue it" by being fruitful and multiplying.
By the way that was, and still is, the original commandment to mankind "Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it" (In Beginnings (Gen.) 1:28; 9:1,7; 35:11). One can see how far we've strayed from that first commandment with societal engineering to only birth 1.2 children. The second commandment being "Don't eat of that tree!".
They decided to make a name for themselves so as not to be scattered upon the face of all the earth. You know the story. It wasn't too "kosher" (acting correctly) with Yahweh, so He balahed (decay; wear out) the language. They began babbling to each other resulting in communication failure and the cessation of their agenda (In Beginnings (Gen.) 11:7,8).
Do not be too proud of your mother tongue or the specific language or dialect of your ethnicity, it's just a sign of being a descendant of a rebellion that lost the privilege of the original lip.
What were they really doing in making a name for themselves? Did they not already have a name? What real purpose was behind huddling together in a desert plain between two rivers to build a city and a tower with its top to the heavens? Are you ready for the answer? Here it is!
In classical Hebrew the English word name is sheim, meaning identity/character.
Adam, meaning earthly and solid; rich in minerals; ruddy (muddy red in appearance); pure man, in classical Hebrew was the name given to him because he was made from the adamah (ground). He was made from that of which he was to subdue. Although his flesh (basar - cover with sensitive coating; perceptive; bringing a message) was/is vulnerable to earth's elements, he would be covered with the kavod (value; honor; being heavy) of his Powers, making him invincible. That invincibility was/is subject to his total submission to his Life Giver. His identity/character was to reflect his Creator's, and his function was to carry out the original command. His reliance and dependence was solely upon the words of his Maker.
Yahweh (existence) granted Adam existence by breathing into his nostrils a breath of lives, and he became to a living soul (In Beginnings (Gen.) 2:7). Nasham the Hebrew word for breathe, has the parent root "sham" like "sheim", meaning "identity/character". Chayim is the plural form of the Hebrew word for life, meaning lives, i.e. a spirit and soul; nephesh, the Hebrew word for soul, is an individual with a mind, a will, and emotions.

So, Adam was a physical emanation of the very essence of the Existent One in identity and character, as an individual with a mind, a will, and emotions. He was perfect to carry out the command. But mankind chose not to rely upon the Spirit of their Creator, but upon one another for existence. With that, they needed to stay together and away from the beauty of creation that gives witness of Yahweh; hence a huddling people in a vast desert plain between two rivers (shinar) to build a city and a tower.
They chose to pride themselves in their own ingenuity and creativity by striving to erect a tower whose top is in the heavens. This is possibly to investigate the overlay of the firmament, or to escape another flood for their rebellion, should Yahweh respond. In other words "We will exist outside of our Creator, establishing our own identity".
In the book of Isaiah chapter 14 its context is the fall of Babylon; further insight to its cause was the rebellion of Heileil (Lucifer, who made himself satan). In verse 21 of that chapter Isaiah prophesies of its destruction, "... lest they rise up and possess the land and fill the face of the world with cities."
Bavel (mix; confusion) Babel, Babylon, is a system set up over the centuries, inspired by the dark powers of satan extant from the initial rebellion of man questioning his original purpose. It indoctrinates man that he has the creativity and ingenuity to exist outside of his Creator. But in doing so, he needs to depend upon man, and be depended upon by man. To submit to this system is to be confused about one's true identity and purpose for existence.
"Alas, Tsiyon (Zion)! Escape, you that dwell with the daughter of Bavel (Babylon)" (Zechariah 2:7).

"After these things I saw another messenger (angel) coming down out of the heavens having great authority, and the earth was illuminated out of the splendor of him. 2 - And he cried in a strong voice saying, 'Bavel the great is fallen, is fallen, and has become a habitation of demons and a prison of every unclean spirit, and a prison of every unclean bird, and a prison of every animal unclean and having become detestable. 3 - Because of the wine of the passion of the fornication of her, all the nations have drunk, and the kings (presidents, prime ministers) of the earth committed fornication with her, and the merchants (business men) of the earth, out of the resources of the luxury of her, became rich.' 4 - And I heard another voice out of the heavens saying, 'Come out of her, my people, that you may not participate in her sins, and out of the plagues of her that you may not receive. Because her sins were piled up, up to the heavens, and Powers remembered the lack of her righting wrongs and satisfying objective justice'" (Revelation 18:1-5).
"And the merchants of the earth cry and grieve over her, because of the cargo of them no one buys any more: Merchandise of... And... bodies and souls of men (slaves)" (Revelation 18: 11-13). Cana'an means "subdue; merchandizing; wares". Business is old english BUSY-NESS, meaning "purposeful activity; a usual commercial or mercantile activity engaged in as a means of livelihood".

"Because all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the pride of life (acquiring sufficient means of living in Hebrew and Greek texts), is not out of the Father but is out of the world" (1Jn. 2:16).

" ... let him calculate the number of the beast, it is a number of a man, and the number of it is 666" (Rev. 13:18). The base of man's physical body tying him to this physical plain of existence is Carbon 12 (C12). After oxygen, the second most abundant element in the human body is C12, 1 of 5 elements making up DNA. An isotope of carbon consists of 6 protons, 6 electrons, and 6 neutrons, hence the number of a man. It is the make-up of his material matter in this three dimensional plane of existence. The term "beast" is a metaphor in the classical Hebrew writings for government (mind control) i.e. man controlling/enslaving man.

Think about it! It is a satanic ploy of misdirection to be looking for an individual whose name calculates to 666, when in fact, systems of governments are the adversary/enemy of the anointing (antichrist), and that, in every generation of wicked rulers, to our shame.
